Biography
Penny is a retired RN living in Oregon. She started doing dog portraits while working as a Home Health and Hospice nurse in rural Oregon. Work was stressful and she needed something to do that she could completely focus on, and that incorporated her love of dogs. When her physical therapist adopted a beautiful rescue racing Greyhound—General Montgomery, “Monty”—he was a natural comfort therapy dog. He got certified and visited hospice patients, Veterans at the VA Hospital and kids with reading disabilities.
Monty was her first subject for dog portraits. In the 20 years since, she’s done more than 150 pet portraits—mostly rescues, and many to support animal rescue charities. She will ask you to send several photographs and usually paints in acrylics.
